About Palmetto
Early Intervention Service

Palmetto EIS provides early intervention services to individuals with special needs and developmental delays so he/she can achieve their greatest potential. Founded in 2012, by Vickie Phillips, Palmetto EIS was was a small company, providing Early Intervention services to Spartanburg County, here in South Carolina. Palmetto has since grown in numbers and is now serving families throughout the state, in Greenville & Spartanburg County, Cherokee, Union, Pickens and Myrtle Beach.

Our History

Vickie worked with the Charles Lea Center group homes during her last two years in college in order to gain more experience working with special needs individuals.  She quickly fell in love with all of the special needs individuals and realized how important it is for special needs individuals to have someone that they could look up to for help and support.  After obtaining her degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 1992 she pursued a job at the Charles Lea Center as a service coordinator assisting individuals and families. She helped to connect them to other services within the community to enhance their support system. While at the Charles Lea Center she developed a special passion for children with special needs and was working with a case load of almost 70 kids. After several years of working at the center, she decided to take a position working with the Department of Social Services where she could further her passion for helping children with special needs in the foster care system. Vickie then took some time to further another career in real estate and she was successful for over 10 years but always missed working with children. Vickie decided to go back and work for an early intervention company to gain more experience with the Early Intervention Program. She founded Palmetto Early Intervention Service in 2012 after the death of her husband in a motorcycle accident. She decided to adopt her first and only child, Hope and then open Palmetto Early Intervention Service as a way to provide for her child and use her experiences in life doing what she enjoys. Vickie, with the support of her sister, Angie, manages Early Interventionists/Service Coordinators.

Our Mission

At Palmetto Early Intervention Service we believe in providing quality family training and intervention services to children age birth to six years old with disabilities and special needs or global developmental delays. We work with the family to create and implement an IFSP (Individualized Service Family Plan) to meet the families concerns and needs while building on the strength of the families and child. Through this plan our early interventionists will model and implement research-based strategies during the family visits that you can use throughout the week to continue working on your child’s goals. Not only will our early interventionists implement learning activities for you and your child but they will also act as your service coordinator to help connect you to additional resources offered in the community.

These additional resources can include:

  • Physical Therapy

  • Speech Therapy

  • Cccupational Terapy

  • ABA therapy

  • Autism Screenings

  • Genetics Testing

  • Applying for Medicaid or Social Security

  • … and many other services to fit your needs
